The Keeler Gap is a thin slit near Saturn’s A-ring outer edge

Near the outer edge of Saturn’s A ring, the Keeler Gap opens as a slim clearing only about 35 kilometers wide — a razor slit compared with the broad Cassini Division.

The moon Daphnis orbits inside that slit and kicks scalloped waves into the ring edges as it passes. Cassini’s sharp views turned the gap from a telescopic curiosity into a dynamical classroom.

Narrow gaps punch above their size. Keeler proves ring systems can host delicate, moon-tended lanes that would be invisible without close-up cameras.
