Neso takes about 26 years to lap distant Neptune

Neso is an irregular outer moon of Neptune whose orbital period stretches near 26 Earth years — longer than Uranus’s trip around the Sun.

It travels on a huge, inclined, retrograde path millions of kilometers out, likely a captured icy interloper. Such moons barely feel Neptune’s day-to-day weather yet stay bound by the planet’s mass.

Moon years can outlast planetary years. Neso shows Neptune’s gravitational reach extends to calendars that dwarf even ice-giant seasons.
