Many moons keep one face locked toward their planet

Many moons keep one face locked toward their planet

Tidal locking makes a moon’s rotation period match its orbital period, so the same hemisphere always faces the planet — as Earth’s Moon does.

Most large moons in the solar system share this fate. The far side still exists; it simply never turns toward the host world from the surface.

Gravity edits the spin until the dance syncs. Locked faces are the solar system’s quiet choreography.
