Gravity on the Moon is about one-sixth of Earth’s

A person who feels heavy on Earth would feel about one-sixth as heavy on the Moon. Lunar surface gravity is roughly 1.6 meters per second squared, compared with about 9.8 on Earth.

The Moon is smaller and less massive, so it pulls less. Apollo crews could hop, but their suits and life-support packs were still awkward, and dust clung to everything.

That weaker pull is why rockets need less thrust to leave the Moon than to leave Earth — and why future bases will still have to train for muscles and bones that expect a stronger world.
