Cassini studied Saturn for 13 years

Cassini studied Saturn for 13 years

NASA’s Cassini orbiter arrived at Saturn in 2004 and worked until 2017, diving between the rings and filming moons before a planned plunge into the atmosphere.

It delivered Huygens to Titan’s surface, spotted Enceladus’ geysers, and mapped the rings in exquisite detail. The Grand Finale burned the craft up to protect possible ocean moons.

Thirteen years of watching turned Saturn from a postcard into a living system. Cassini’s archive still feeds discoveries.
