Bones hold about 85 percent of your phosphorus

Calcium gets the fame, but the hard crystal in bone is calcium phosphate. About 85 percent of the phosphorus in the body sits in that mineral, locked in the skeleton beside the calcium.

The rest is busy in every cell: in membranes, in DNA, and in the molecule that carries energy. Blood keeps a small circulating share, and bone is the reserve the body can borrow from.

A rigid frame is also a mineral account. Phosphorus is stored there in bulk, not as a trace.
