Veryovkina Cave is currently the deepest mapped cave on Earth

Veryovkina Cave in Abkhazia’s Arabika Massif currently holds the record as Earth’s deepest mapped cave, plunging more than two kilometers through limestone toward a subterranean sump.

Expeditions string ropes through vertical pitches and tight meanders where floods can trap teams for days. Mapping such depth takes years of survey shots and careful logistics.

Depth is a frontier you climb downward. Veryovkina proves some of Earth’s wildest geography is measured in dark meters, not summit views.
