Uluru rises as a single sandstone monolith above the plain

Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia’s Red Centre is a single sandstone monolith rising about 348 meters above the surrounding plain, with most of its bulk still underground.

Changing sunlight paints the rock from ochre to deep red; it is sacred to Anangu people and a protected natural wonder.

One stone can hold a skyline. Uluru is geology wearing the scale of a cathedral without walls.
