Puppies are born deaf and blind

Newborn puppies arrive with closed eyes and sealed ear canals. Sight and hearing usually open around two weeks of age.

The weeks that follow are a socialization window: gentle people, sounds, and surfaces shape adult temperament for years.

Helpless at birth is a design choice for rapid growth. The world turns the volume up only after the body is ready.
