Linear seif dunes can stretch unbroken for tens of kilometers

Linear seif dunes can stretch unbroken for tens of kilometers

Seif dunes are sharp-crested, elongated sand ridges that can run for tens of kilometers when two wind directions alternate along a desert corridor.

Sand snakes along the crest in a braided dance, lengthening the ridge rather than building a single crescent pile.

Wind writes longhand. A seif is a sentence of sand — one continuous line across the arid page.
