Black smokers build mineral chimneys hosting shrimp and tube worms

Superheated vent fluid loaded with metals mixes with cold seawater and precipitates dark sulfide chimneys that can grow meters high within years.

A black smoker is a factory and a city. Geology stacks ore while biology stacks neighbors on the hottest real estate in the deep.
