A caecilian looks like a worm but is an amphibian

Limbless, often burrowing caecilians have backbones and jaws — a third amphibian order beside frogs and salamanders, not earthworms in costume.

Many live underground or in leaf litter, so their reputation stays low while their lineage runs deep.

Looks deceive taxonomy. A “worm” with vertebrae is still writing amphibian history underground.
